You’ve heard of cheese slices… and now… bring on the ketchup slices!
Plan Check is a restaurant located in Los Angeles, best known for it’s original take on American dishes. Who would’ve thought that original take would come all the way down to condiments?
They’re reinventing the way we add ketchup to our burgers, saying bye-bye to the mushy bun forever, by inventing the ketchup slices! Before I watched the video on this I thought about it for a second thinking, “how the hell is this possible”. It started hurting my brain a little so I went ahead and pressed play on the vid to see first-hand how this process is even possible. It’s called ketchup leather:
From Mashable: To make the leather, tomato paste is blended with soy sauce, garlic and other spices. Then, it’s dehydrated in an oven it until it’s dry. If you’re put off by the idea of that leathery texture in your mouth, don’t worry: once the slice is put on the burger, it melts and rehydrates into the perfect portion of sauce.
