Halloween is right around the corner so we thought we’d remind you of some of the more haunted locations around Indianapolis! Thanks to haunted places, we’ve unraveled all the haunts of ghosts, killers, and more that can be found all around the 317!

The House Of H.H. Holmes

holmes

Located at 5811 Julian Ave In Irvington, this house belongs to America’s first known serial killer. Holmes is confirmed to have killed 27 people, with some believing he killed more. Holmes is most known for his killings at the 1896 Chicago World’s Fair. Holmes was primarily known for wooing women, convincing them to take out life insurance policies with him as the beneficiary, then killing them for the money.  The original house burned down…but there’s still a house on the property and maybe some things beneath the ground there…who knows?

Rivoli Theater

3155 10th Street is where you’ll find the old theater of Indianapolis. Legend has it the place was built atop an Native American burial ground and many weird things have happened there. Toilets have flushed on their own, faucets turned on. Truthfully…I don’t see that being the work of evil ghost Native Americans…if anything they’re just curious of technology! That being said of all the places that give you the creeps just looking at it…this one tops the list.

The Slippery Noodle Inn

Downtown Indy’s oldest bar is also supposedly the most haunted! Many people have reported seeing ghosts of slaves, cowboys, and prostitutes. It would appear that even the departed cannot avoid the allure of downtown night life.

Indianapolis Athletic Club

The newest haunted legend on the list, most know this historic buildings location on Meridian street. In 1992, a much publicized fire claimed the lives of two firefighters and one hotel patron. It was the first time in a couple decades a firefighter had lost their life in Indianapolis. Now over 20 years later people report seeing ghosts of the departed in the building.

The House Of Blue Lights

Who doesn’t know the legend of the “House of Blue Lights”? A man has his wife locked in a casket in the basement, lots of cats, Christmas lights year round, guard dogs…it’s crazy. So crazy and well believed that several media outlets published true stories about the family back in the day to prevent tourists from walking through their home! The Crown Hill cemetery is where you need to hike to find this blue gem…good luck!
