Today in Rock History – November 21

Are you ready to learn some stuff? It’s November 21st and here’s what happened Today in Rock History!

Starting the day off strong with releases, as we got the classic Queen album A Night at the Opera in 1975!

Other releases include Daughtry’s debut record in 2006, Songbook from Chris Cornell in 2011, Gaucho by Steely Dan in 1980,

As well as Under a Blood Red Sky by U2 in 1983, Hi Infidelity from REO Speedwagon in 1980, and Take a Look in the Mirror from Korn in 2003!

In 2007, the experimental biopic I’m Not There was released. The film told the story of Bob Dylan’s life through the guise of different personas played by different actors.

It’s Alex James of Blur’s birthday today!

In 1991, Aerosmith become the first band to guest star on The Simpsons during the third season episode Flaming Moe’s.

We lost Led Zeppelin manager Peter Grant in 1995 from a heart attack. Known for his intimidating presence, Grant was considered one of the most ruthless managers in rock history, intimidating records stores that sold bootlegs among other things.

And finally in 1980, after a night of partying to celebrate the end of the Eagles, member Don Henley was arrested after calling 911 to get treatment for a 16-year-old prostitute who was apparently having a seizure in his home. Medical personnel would arrive to find the girl naked. Henley would claim that he didn’t know the girl was 16 and he didn’t have relations with her. He would plead no contest to the misdemeanor charge of contributing to the delinquency of a minor and would land him a fine and two years probation. Henley would later tell GQ he took the fall for the roadies who supplied drugs for the party and the minor.
