Today in Rock History – November 7th

Are you ready to learn some stuff? It’s November 7th and here’s what happened Today in Rock History!

Starting the day with releases in 1981 as we got Ozzy’s Diary of a Madman!

Other releases include John & Yoko’s Wedding Album in 1969, the Eagles live album Eagles Live in 1980 and Alice in Chains debut record in 1995!

In 1986 the film Sid and Nancy was released. The biopic told the story of Sex Pistol bassist Sid Vicious and his tragic relationship with Nancy Spungen

With birthdays, we have Zach Myers of Shinedown!

We also have Tommy Thayer of KISS, Greg Tribbett of Mudvayne, and Robin Finck of Nine Inch Nails!

Speaking of NIN, in 2020, the 35th Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony took place. Inductees included Depeche Mode, The Doobie Brothers. T. Rex, and Nine Inch Nails. The ceremony didn’t include performances as it was held virtual due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Just before a 2012 Linkin Park concert in South Africa, a scaffolding collapsed due to high winds. 19 were injured and a woman died from the collapse. The band still performed and weren’t informed of the death until after the show.

After getting clean, Izzy Stradlin quit Guns N Roses in 1991. Stradlin cited the combination of Axl Rose’s behavior and the difficulties of being around his other bandmates as the catalyst of his departure.

And finally in 1967, songwriting partners Reg Dwight and Bernie Taupin singed their first publishing deal with DJM. Still minors at the time, the boys parents were there as witnesses. Dwight and Taupin would soon reach great heights a few years later when Reg changed his name to Elton.
