Are you ready to learn some stuff? It’s November 1st and here’s what happened Today in Rock History!
There seems to be only one way to start the day, as Nirvana’s MTV Unplugged in New York released in today in 1994. The album would top charts in many countries and become the first No. 1 for the band.
Also released on this day in 1994 were Youthansia from Megadeth and the Tom Petty solo record Wildflowers!
Other releases include American Beauty from the Grateful Dead in 1970 and Fungus Amongus from Incubus in 1995!
And speaking of records, in 1985, the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) implemented the Parental Advisory label on records deemed to contain offensive lyrics. Most record companies go with the labels, but doesn’t seem to hurt sales.
With birthdays, we have Anthony Kiedis of Red Hot Chili Peppers!
Other birthdays include record producer Jim Steinman and Rick Allen of Def Leppard!
And finally in 2005, Black Sabbath were inducted into the UK Music Hall of Fame. To celebrate, the band played Paranoid and, because he felt the crowd wasn’t rocking hard enough, Ozzy mooned the crowd.
