Are you ready to learn some stuff? It’s October 18th and here’s what happened Today in Rock History!
Its a short and sweet kind of day starting off with releases, as in 1974 we got The Rolling Stones’ It’s Only Rock ‘n’ Roll
Other releases include The River from Bruce Springsteen in 1980, Other Voices by The Doors in 1971, and in 1988 we got both Daydream Nation by Sonic Youth and The Traveling Wilburys Vol 1 from the Traveling Wilburys.
In 2000, Zack De la Rocha announced his departure from Rage Against the Machine due infighting within the group. The other three members would go on to form Audioslave with Chris Cornell.
And finally, while opening for The Rolling Stones at the Los Angeles Coliseum in 1989, Axl Rose announced to the crowd that this would be the last Guns N Roses show unless the band “got their s*** together.” Rose was referring to the band’s used of heroin aka Mr. Brownstone.
