Today in Rock History – October 15th

Are you ready to learn some stuff? It’s October 15th and here’s what happened Today in Rock History!

Starting the day off in 1995, as Paul McCartney and wife Linda appeared on The Simpsons in the episode Lisa The Vegetarian, with the stipulation being that Lisa becoming a vegetarian would be a permanent character change. Producers agreed.

In 1973, Keith Richards of The Rolling Stones gets himself in hot water in France as Richards was found guilty of trafficking cannabis. Richards was given a one-year suspended sentence, a 5,000 franc fine and was banned from entering France for two years.

In 1996, Tommy Lee was charged with assault after attacking a cameraman outside an L.A. club trying to take photos of Lee and then wife Pamela Anderson. Lee would later be sentenced to four months in prison.

With releases, we got Toto’s debut album in 1978

As well as Life Is Peachy from KORN in 1996, The All-American Rejects debut record in 2002 and the ’74 Jailbreak EP from AC/DC in 1984!

And finally in 2006, Patti Smith played the final show at the celebrated music club CBGB. The club would close after the show due to a dispute between owner Hilly Kristal and the Bowery Residents Committee in NYC. Fans tried to preserve the building as a historical landmark, but fail as a men’s clothing store takes over the location in 2008.
