Today in Rock History – August 28

Are you ready to learn some stuff? It’s August 28th and here’s what happened Today in Rock History!

Starting off it’s Jack Black of Tenacious D’s birthday today!

We got both Iowa from Slipknot and Come Clean by Puddle of Mudd in 2001

In 2020, we got the third Bill & Ted movie: Bill & Ted Face the Music

In 2009, Oasis broke up after singer-guitarist Noel Gallagher quits. Gallagher says the reason for the split was that he could no longer work with his brother Liam.

In 1998, Pearl Jam released their video for Do the Evolution on MTV. This would be their first video since 1992’s Jeremy.

And finally in 2007, we lost Hilly Kristal. Kristal was the owner of the legendary CBGB club in the Bowery section of New York City. The club, original intended for Country, Bluegrass, and Blues music (hence the name CBGB), became a Mecca for 1970’s and 1980’s punk rock and new wave artists like the Ramones, Patti Smith, Blondie and the Talking Heads until it’s closure in 2006.
