Today in Rock History – June 20

Are you ready to learn some stuff? It’s June 20th and here’s what happened Today in Rock History!

Its a slow one today but its a banger for releases! Starting off we got Double Vision from Foreigner!

We also got De Stijl from The White Stripes and The Real Thing by Faith No More!

It’s Michael Anthony of Van Halen’s birthday today!

Other birthdays include: Twiggy Ramirez of Marilyn Manson, Miaoux Miaoux of Franz Ferdinand and Chino Moreno of the Deftones!

And finally in 1969 the first day of the Newport ’69 music festival begins, headlined by Jimi Hendrix. Hendrix was paid $125,000, which at the time was considered the highest fee ever for an act. The festival was also considered at the time to be the largest-ever concert, tickets cost $15. The festival was marred by violence as police tried to stop gate-crashers.
