Today in Rock History – June 15

Are you ready to learn some stuff? It’s June 15th and here’s what happened Today in Rock History!

It’s an amazing day for releases and we’re starting off on a high as we got Nirvana’s debut record Bleach in 1989!

It’s a great day for debut records as we also got The Offspring’s debut effort in 1989 and Unknown Pleasures from Joy Division in 1979

We also got two White Stripes albums on this day, those being their debut effort in 1999 and Icky Thump in 2007

Moving onto birthdays now, we have Billy Martin of Good Charlotte, Brad Gillis of Night Ranger, Steve Walsh of Kansas, and Scott Rockenfield of Queensryche

In 1990, Ben Shepherd plays his very first show with Soundgarden at the Lake City Concert Hall in Seattle.

We lost legendary radio host (and the original voice of Shaggy on Scooby-Doo), Casey Kasem in 2014.

And finally in 1996, the Beastie Boys host the inaugural Tibetan Freedom Concert. Performers for the concert include Sonic Youth, Smashing Pumpkins and Rage Against the Machine
