Today in Rock History – February 28

Are you ready to learn some stuff? It’s February 28th and here’s what happened Today in Rock History!

Starting off with releases, we have Standing on the Shoulders of Giants by Oasis and Stiff Upper Lip from AC/DC, both from 2000 and Welcome to My Nightmare by Alice Cooper. Cue the Wayne’s World bit!

We also got Weird Al’s “Weird Al” Yankovic in 3-D in 1984.

One birthdays today and that belongs to Brian Jones of The Rolling Stones.

In 1999, Marilyn Manson and Hole begin their joint Beautiful Monsters tour in Spokane, Washington. The tour would be canceled after nine dates when Hole pull out (heheheh) and Manson injures his ankle on stage.

In 1970, Led Zeppelin play a gig in Copenhagen under the name “The Nobs” after Eva von Zeppelin, a relative of the late airship designer Ferdinand von Zeppelin, threatened to sue the band.

And finally in 1995, Billie Joe Armstrong of Green Day and his wife Adrienne welcome their first son, Joseph “Joey” Armstrong. Joey was named after Ramones singer Joey Ramone.

This has been Today in Rock History! Keep on Rocking, keep on Rolling! Check back tomorrow for your next rock history lesson!
