I feel like this doesn’t happen frequently, so I’m actually excited. A chain restaurant is using Indianapolis as a test market for a new menu item.
Chipotle announced today that they would test their new plant-based chorizo in both Indianapolis and Denver. The item is made with “ancho chili and chipotle peppers, ripe tomato paste, crushed garlic, Spanish smoked paprika and extra virgin olive oil, combined with natural protein sourced from freshly grown peas,” according to Indy Star.
Now testing Plant-Based Chorizo in Denver and Indianapolis. Why are you still here reading this?

The headquarters for Chipotle are based in Denver, but I’m not sure why they chose Indianapolis as the other test market. I love chorizo, but stopped eating pork and red meat in 2020, so I’m personally very pumped about this, and I hope it’s tasty.
This will be the first vegan item added to their menu since 2014. If you want to try it, you can get free delivery on plant-based chorizo items through August 29.
