Crowds won’t be allowed to take in a big holiday tradition in Indianapolis this year. Downtown Indy’s Circle of Lights will still happen the day after Thanksgiving, but the ceremony won’t allow spectators on Monument Circle.
Instead, the event will be televised on WTHR.
Many of the traditional features will still occur. Volunteers with IBEW Local 481 will still string the lights and there will still be soldiers, sailors and peppermint sticks surrounding the monument.
And, the IPL Coloring Contest will still happen with the winning child flipping the switch to turn on the lights.
The display will stay up through January, according to Indy Star and the nightly video projections will return as well.
