Way back in January, Tony Kanaan announced that 2020 would be the last year he raced.
Then, as we all know by now, the pandemic hit. And the 104th running of the Indy 500 happened without fans in the stands.
Kanaan decided that wasn’t the way he wanted to go out. So, he’s decided that 2021 will actually be his last year.
He told RTV6
“I don’t change my mind very often. But, you guys know what this place means to me, and I know what this place means to the fans and what they made me feel when I was here. So, I change my mind. I don’t think its fair for me to go without them (the fans) seeing me. I don’t want to go this way.”
Makes sense to me. We’ll see you for 105 next year.
