Going out in public in Indianapolis? Better make sure your face is covered.
Mayor Hogsett made the announcement on Thursday morning—face masks will soon be required.
The new policy goes into effect on July 9 according to the Indy Star. Masks must be worn in indoor places and outdoor spots where social distancing can’t be practiced.
The mayor said the following during a news conference:
“This isn’t complicated. It’s a piece of cloth. It’s a piece of cloth that can save your life and the lives of those around you. And it is the right thing to do. If you choose to not follow this order, you are dead wrong.”
Those who don’t comply may be fined.
