Two of the best shows of all time might be wiped from Netflix soon. “The Office” and “Friends” are owned by NBC and WarnerMedia respectively, which are both about to launch their own streaming service. You can probably guess where this is going.
The contract for “The Office” is up in 2021 and it’s expected that NBC will take it to their service according to USA Today. Netflix paid $100 million this year to keep “Friends” on their platform, so that might be a longer contract, not exactly sure when it runs out.
Now Warner and NBC could decide to share their shows with Netflix, but Netflix would also have to agree to that. Seems like it might be in their best interest to do so.
