It’s a killer day for releases as we got not one but TWO Rolling Stones albums: Black and Blue and Sticky Fingers!
We also got Favourite Worst Nightmare from the Arctic Monkeys in 2007, Yankee Hotel Foxtrot by Wilco in 2002, and the Ramones self-titled debut record in 1976
Moving onto birthdays, we have the late Steve Clark of Def Leppard, Matt Freeman of Rancid, Carlos Dengler of Interpol and the Kiszka twins, Jake and Josh of Greta Van Fleet!
We lost Johnny Thunders of the New York Dolls in 1991, Chris Ethridge of the Flying Burrito Brothers, and Tommy Marth of the Killers in 2012
In 2008, Richie Sambora of Bon Jovi was sentenced to three years probation after he admitted to driving while intoxicated. Only one song works for this….
Metallica began recording their much maligned album St. Anger in 2001.
In 2016, a few days after the death of Prince, Bruce Springsteen paid tribute to the singer by opening his show with the Prince classic Purple Rain. The E Street Band also wore purple for the gig, when they normally wear all black.
And finally in 2015, System of a Down performed in the Armenian capitol of Yerevan for the first time. The band, who are of Armenian descent, raised awareness of the Armenian genocide.
