Are you ready to learn some stuff? It’s March 27th and here’s what happened Today in Rock History!

Starting off with releases and we’ve got a big one! The US release of Blizzard of Ozz in 1981.
We also got Easy Action from Alice Cooper in 1970, Bon Jovi’s 7800 Fahrenheit in 1985, 2001’s Every Six Seconds by Saliva, and Social Distortion’s self-titled album from 1990!
Moving onto birthdays, its Johnny April of Staind. Say it with me now:
Other birthdays include Brendan Hill of Blues Traveler, Tony Banks of Genesis, and Andrew Farriss of INXS!
In 1979, Eric Clapton married Pattie Harrison, the ex-wife of friend and former Beatle, George Harrison. George would attend the wedding and remained friends with Clapton. Pattie was also the inspiration of this classic Clapton song:
David Bowie’s landmark record The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust was honored in 2012 as a blue plaque was revealed at the Heddon Street location where the album cover was shot.
In 1987, while filming the video for their upcoming song Where the Streets Have No Name, U2 performed a concert atop a rooftop in Los Angeles, causing thousands to gather and traffic coming to a standstill. Police would later arrive to stop the band from continuing their set.
In 1986, Van Halen began their first tour with Sammy Hagar as their new singer after the departure of original singer David Lee Roth
Also in 1986, Metallica joined Ozzy Osbourne’s Ultimate Sin tour as Ozzy’s opening act.
Starting with Ozzy and (technically) ending with Ozzy? Just seems right.
