Are you ready to learn some stuff? It’s March 16th and here’s what happened Today in Rock History!

Starting it off with birthdays we have Steve Marker of Garbage, Michael Bruce of the Alice Cooper band, Nancy Wilson of Heart, and Wolfgang Van Halen of Mammoth WVH. He was also apart of a band with his dad. You can probably guess who that is.
Moving into releases now, we saw the release of Anthrax’s Among the Living in 1987
We also got T. Rex’s Tanx in 1973, Breakfast in America from Supertramp in 1979, The Who’s Face Dances in 1981, and The Runaways’ self-titled debut record in 1976!
A&M terminated its contract with the Sex Pistols in 1977 and stopped production of their debut single God Save the Queen after an altercation between the band and BBC 2 host Bob Harris at the Speakeasy Club in London, just six days after signing the punk band.
In 1992, Metallica was charged $38,000 after the fans went crazy at one of their shows in Orlando. Not only did the fans trash the place, but some dangled an usher from a balcony by his ankles.
In 2011, Dave Mustaine of Megadeth collapsed backstage at a show in Russia due to extreme pain from kidney stones. Mustaine went on to perform six songs for the Russian crowd before leaving for the hospital 30 minutes later.
And finally in 2010, a rare Led Zeppelin concert recording of their 1971 show at St Matthew’s Baths Hall in Ipswich was uncovered at a trunk sale in the UK. The lucky fan, Vic Kemp said, “I was going through a stand of CDs at the car boot at Portman Road and the guy who was selling them said, You might be interested in this. It must have been recorded by someone standing at the front with a microphone. You can hear Robert Plant talking to the audience quite clearly.“
