Are you ready to learn some stuff? It’s March 4th and here’s what happened Today in Rock History!
It’s a bit of a slow day today. Starting with releases, we have: We’re Only in It for the Money from the Mothers of Invention in 1968 and Fallen by Evanescence in 2003.
Moving into birthdays and we have Chris Squire of YES, Fergal Lawler of The Cranberries, Jeremiah Green of Modest Mouse and former Metallica bassist Jason Newsted.
We lost Richard Manuel of The Band in 1986 from suicide at the age of 41.
And finally in 1994, Kurt Cobain spends 20 hours in a coma after overdosing on between 50-60 pills of Rohypnol (a prescription sedative) mixed with champagne during Nirvana’s European tour. Rumors spread that Cobain had died. That wouldn’t come to fruition until a few weeks later when Cobain committed suicide that April.
