Today in Rock History – March 2

Are you ready to learn some stuff? It’s March 2nd and here’s what happened Today in Rock History!

Starting with birthdays today, it’s Jon Bon Jovi’s birthday!

As well as Lou Reed of The Velvet Underground’s birthday!

With releases, we got Nine Inch Nails’ Ghosts I-IV in 2008 and both ELO 2 from Electric Light Orchestra and The Captain and Me by The Doobie Brothers on the same day in 1973.

And in 1984, one of rock’s most infamous rockumentaries was released in theatres about Britain’s most infamous band, This is Spinal Tap.

We lost Steve Mackey of Pulp in 2023 at the age of 56.

And finally in 1992, a rock group called On A Friday signed to EMI Records. The Oxford, England band would soon change their name and a year later release their first album, Pablo Honey. That band was Radiohead.
