Are you ready to learn some stuff? It’s February 23rd and here’s what happened Today in Rock History!

Starting with birthdays, we have Chris Vrenna of Nine Inch Nails, Michael Wilton of Queensryche, and Brad Whitford of Aerosmith!
Only one release today and it’s Subterranean Jungle from the Ramones in 1983.
We lost Howie Epstein of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers in 2003
In 1976, AC/DC shot video for what would become their iconic music video for It’s A Long Way To The Top (If You Wanna Rock ‘n’ Roll) for the Australian music TV show Countdown. It featured the band traveling on a flatbed truck travelling down Swanston Street in Melbourne with members of the Rats of Tobruk Pipe Band. Time to break out the bagpipes!
And speaking of TV, Anthrax appeared on a 1992 episode of Married with Children.
How to make a classic sitcom more badass? Add Anthrax!
Speaking of badassery, at a Tool show at the London Astoria in 1997, lead singer Maynard James Keenan took down a fan who rushed onstage during their set. Keenan, who is also an army vet and practices Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, kept the fan in a chokehold while still performing their song Pushit. You can see the video of the incident below.
And nobody tried to rush the stage with Tool ever again.
