To start the day, we have releases! First up is Skid Row’s self-titled debut from 1989!
Other releases include: The Ultimate Sin from Ozzy Osbourne in 1986, Balance by Van Halen in 1995, and Weezer’s Teal Album in 2019
It’s Warren Zevon’s birthday today
In 1991, The Cure filmed their MTV Unplugged special in London. To fill in for the non-existing synthesizer riffs on the song The Walk, the crowd are given kazoos to play along.
We lost Butch Trucks of the Allman Brothers Band in 2017 at the age of 69 from suicide.
In 1980, a billboard was erected with bricks on the Sunset Strip in West Hollywood. Each day, a brick would be removed to slowly reveal that it was advertising Pink Floyd’s newest album The Wall.
And finally in 2018, Elton John announced his retirement from touring with a five-year tour titled Farewell Yellow Brick Road. Spanning five continents and planned to run through 2021, the tour ended in 2023 due to COVID postponing a majority of the shows. Running for 328 shows, the tour earned $939m, becoming what is now the second highest earning tour in history.
