Today in Rock History – December 27

Are you ready to learn some stuff? It’s December 27th and here’s what happened Today in Rock History!

Starting the day in 2008, as two men broke into the Georgia home of Allman Brothers Band singer and keyboardist Gregg Allman and stole knives, a coin collection and unreleased concert recordings. The men would be caught just two days later.

We got The Pretenders’ debut album in 1979

Birthdays today we’ve got a great list, starting with Hayley Williams of Paramore!

Other birthdays include Dean Bernardini of Chevelle, Lenny Kaye of the Patti Smith Group, David Knopfler of Dire Straits, Mike Pinder of The Moody Blues, and Mick Jones of Foreigner!

And finally in 1975, the Faces, led by Rod Stewart, officially broke up. Stewart would go on to work on a successful solo career, guitarist Ronnie Wood would continue working with The Rolling Stones, Ronnie Lane would form Slim Chance before passing away in 1997, and drummer Kenny Jones took over the kit for The Who. The band, alongside its original incarnation, Small Faces, would be jointly inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2012.
