Today in Rock History – December 20

Are you ready to learn some stuff? It’s December 20th and here’s what happened Today in Rock History!

Starting the day in 2019, My Chemical Romance made their return to the stage after a seven-year absence when they performed at the Shrine Expo Hall in Los Angeles. And just to be nice, here’s the full show.

Moving into birthdays, we have Peter Criss of KISS!

Sorry, I had to

Other birthdays include Chris Robinson of The Black Crowes, Alan Parsons of the Alan Parsons Project, and Jackie Fox of The Runaways!

The live album for The Concert for Bangladesh, which was held just six months earlier, was released in 1971.

In 2006, after almost 40 years since it was recorded, Matthew Fisher, the organist for Procol Harum, was awarded 40% of the songwriting credit for A Whiter Shade of Pale in a London High Court. The judgement was later reduced in 2008.

We lost James Gurley of Big Brother and the Holding Company in 2009 from a heart attack

And finally in 1974, former James Gang frontman Joe Walsh joined the Eagles, replacing Bernie Leadon. Walsh’s inclusion helped the Eagles ditch their country roots and find the style that the band are now known for.
