Today in Rock History – December 9

Are you ready to learn some stuff? It’s December 9th and here’s what happened Today in Rock History!

Starting the day in 2001, as he tried to gain entry into a Guns N Roses show at The Joint in Vegas, former guitarist Slash was denied as current band management doesn’t want to risk upsetting singer Axl Rose. I feel like I’ve heard a story like this somewhere before?

Yeah, if only it worked out that way. ANYWAYS, moving onto releases now, we got The Offspring’s Splinter in 2003 and Pendulum from Creedence Clearwater Revival in 1970!

Birthdays today features Paul Landers of Rammstein, Dennis Dunaway of Alice Cooper, Brian Bell of Weezer, and Tre Cool of Green Day!

And finally in 1967, Jim Morrison of The Doors became the 1st rockstar to ever be arrested during a live performance when the band played the New Haven Arena in Connecticut. The arrest was due to an altercation Morrison had backstage with a police officer where Morrison was sprayed with mace. He would talk about the episode on stage and began to taunt the police, leading to him being arrested on stage. The crowd would riot, causing more to be arrested.
