Today in Rock History – November 22

Are you ready to learn some stuff? It’s November 22nd and here’s what happened Today in Rock History!

Starting the day in 2004, as a burglar broke into the Buckinghamshire mansion of Ozzy Osbourne and escaped with £2m worth of jewelry, but not before getting put into a headlock by the Ozzman. Even though he tried to stop the thief, they escaped out a first floor window located 30ft above the ground.

Its a great day for releases and what an amazing album to start with as we got The White Album from The Beatles in 1968!

Other albums include Danger Days from My Chemical Romance in 2010, Hypnotize from System of a Down in 2005 and Pearl Jam’s Vitalogy in 1994!

Movie theaters across America were blessed with the release of Tenacious D in the Pick of Destiny in 2006. Ok the movie wasn’t great but damn the music is great!

In 1990, Bill Wyman (53-54) ended his 17-month marriage to model Mandy Smith (18-19). Wyman began dating Smith when she was just 13 (with her parents permission, but still. Gross).

We lost Michael Hutchence of INXS in 1997 at the age of 37 after he commits suicide.

In 1991, Alice Cooper helped save two fans house from being re-possessed after finding out the home owner painted Cooper’s face on the house to help sell the property. Alice would sign autographs to help raise money.

With birthdays, we have Tina Weymouth of Talking Heads!

We also have Corey Beaulieu of Trivium, Steve Van Zandt of the E Street Band, and Tony Palermo of Papa Roach!

And finally in 2002, the surviving members of The Doors, Ray Manzarek and Robby Krieger, announced they would begin touring again as The Doors of the 21st Century with ex-Cult singer Ian Astbury and ex-Police drummer Steward Copeland. The band wouldn’t last long as they got into legal trouble from former drummer John Densmore and the family of the deceased Jim Morrison. They would change names multiple times after the litigation.
