Today in Rock History – November 14

Are you ready to learn some stuff? It’s November 14th and here’s what happened Today in Rock History!

Starting the day with birthdays, we have Travis Barker of Blink-182!

Other birthdays include Alec John Such of Bon Jovi, Tobin Esperance of Papa Roach, and James Young of Styx.

As well as Frankie Banali of Quiet Riot, Ben Harper of Yellowcard and Joe Principe of Rise Against!

With releases, we got David Bowie’s 1969 self-titled album AKA Space Oddity!

We also got Conspiracy of One from The Offspring in 2000 and Tenacious D’s The Pick of Destiny in 2006!

And finally (yes really) in 2000, to celebrate the release of Conspiracy of One, The Offspring held a $1M fan contest on MTV. Out of the three finalists chosen, 14-year-old Ashley Hitchcock went home with the prize after correctly answering the question: “Who’s the oldest member of the band?” It was Noodles.

This has been Today in Rock History! Check back tomorrow for your next rock history lesson!
