Today in Rock History – November 3rd

Are you ready to learn some stuff? It’s November 3rd and here’s what happened Today in Rock History!

Starting the day in 1991, as just a week after the death of legendary West Coast concert promotor Bill Graham, 300,000 people turned out to Golden Gate Park in San Francisco for Graham’s tribute concert. The show featured acts like Santana, the Grateful Dead, Crosby Stills Nash & Young, and Journey. For Journey, it would be the first time the band would reunite for a performance since 1987, but it would be the last time singer Steve Perry would perform with the band.

With birthdays we have: Adam Ant, #7 Mick Thomson of Slipknot and Tim McIlrath of Rise Against!

In 2015, just months after 1,000+ musicians from Cesena, Italy performed Learn to Fly to entice the Foo Fighters to play in their city, the band performed a concert in Cesena.

Only two releases today and they were released on the same day in 1992. Bon Jovi’s Keep the Faith and Rage Against the Machine’s debut record

And finally and speaking of Rage, in 2023, the 38th Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony took place inductees included Willie Nelson, Sheryl Crow and Rage Against the Machine. Now Rage didn’t perform due to the members varying views on the Hall, but Tom Morello summed up the band quite nicely in his acceptance speech.
