Today in Rock History – October 28th

Are you ready to learn some stuff? It’s October 28th and here’s what happened Today in Rock History!

Starting the day in 2011, as organizers what would’ve been the first Metallica concert in India were arrested for fraud for not refunding tickets after the band postponed the show for security issues. This resulted in fans destroying the stage and equipment.

It’s Stephen Morris of Joy Division’s birthday

After drumming for the band for 17 years, Bill Berry left R.E.M. in 1997 to become a farmer. He would occasionally rejoin the band for reunion shows, but ultimately stays on his farm out of the limelight.

Moving onto releases now, we got Around the Fur from the Deftones in 1997!

In 1977, we received both Never Mind the Bollocks, Here’s the Sex Pistols from, well, the Sex Pistols and News of the World from Queen!

In 1982 we got KISS’ Creatures of the Night and in 2003 we got Room on Fire from The Strokes!

We lost D. H. Peligro of the Dead Kennedys in 2022

And finally in 1978, the made for TV movie “KISS Meets the Phantom of the Park” premiered on NBC. Starring the members of the band as they dealt with a mad scientist in an amusement park. Ahhh the ’70s. Oh did mention that the band had superpowers in this? Who’s coked up brain came up with this cheese?

This video doesn’t do the movie justice. Just go find more on YouTube and laugh your ass off for the rest of the day!
