Today in Rock History – October 27th

Are you ready to learn some stuff? It’s October 27th and here’s what happened Today in Rock History!

Starting the day off on a sadder note as we lost Lou Reed from liver disease in 2013.

We also lost Steve Peregrin Took of T.Rex in 1980 after he choked to death on a cocktail cherry after mushrooms he took earlier that night numbed his throat.

In 1975, Bruce Springsteen was featured on the covers of both Newsweek and TIME magazines.

Speaking of TIME magazine, David Byrne appeared on the cover just after directing the film True Stories. The magazine called Byrne “Rock’s Renaissance Man.”

It’s Scott Weiland of Stone Temple Pilots’ birthday today

Other birthdays include Garry Tallent of the E Street Band and K. K. Downing of Judas Priest!

Moving onto releases, we got AC/DC Live from AC/DC in 1992, Full Circle from Creed in 2009 and in 1982 we got Prince’s 1999!

Black Sabbath began their first US tour in 1970

And finally in 2023, Korn and Adidas partnered together for a collection of apparel. This partnership comes just 27 years after the band released their song A.D.I.D.A.S., which is not about the company, just a play on the phrase “All Day I Dream About Sex.”
