Are you ready to learn some stuff? It’s October 25th and here’s what happened Today in Rock History!

In 1993, despite refusing to speak with TIME magazine about their story trying to deconstruct the Seattle grunge scene, Eddie Vedder appeared on the cover of the red bordered magazine. Kurt Cobain also refused to speak with the magazine.

With releases today, we got Natty Dread from Bob Marley & The Wailers in 1974 and Uh-huh by John Cougar Mellencamp in 1983!

Moving onto birthdays now, we have Chad Smith of the Red Hot Chili Peppers!

We also have Richard Lloyd of Television, Austin John Winkler of Hinder, Glenn Tipton of Judas Priest and Jon Anderson of Yes

The first ever Ozzfest took place in 1996 with the two-day festival being held in Phoenix, AZ and Devore, CA.

We lost Jack Bruce of Cream in 2014

And finally in 1977, Lynyrd Skynyrd frontman Ronnie Van Zant was laid to rest in a Jacksonville, FL cemetery just five days after dying in a plane crash that also killed two pilots, the band’s road manager, and band members Steve and Cassie Gaines. The only member healthy enough to attend the funeral was piano player Billy Powell who was on crutches with stitches on his face.
