Today in Rock History – September 20

Are you ready to learn some stuff? It’s September 20th and here’s what happened Today in Rock History!

Starting the day off with releases, we got AC/DC’s Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap in 1976

Ozzy’s solo debut Blizzard of Ozz in 1980

As well as, Love Over Gold by Dire Straits in 1982, Billy Idol’s Whiplash Smile in 1986 and both Have a Nice Day by Bon Jovi and Ten Thousand Fists from Disturbed in 2005!

Onto birthdays, we have Chuck and John Panozzo of Styx, Rick DeJesus of Adelitas Way and Ben Shepherd of Soundgarden

In 1968, Led Zeppelin (still known as The Yardbirds at the time), began recording what would become Zeppelin 1.

We lost the namesake for Lynyrd Skynyrd, Leonard Skinner in 2010

And finally in 1979, while performing at The Palladium in NYC, Clash bassist Paul Simonon grew frustrated with the sitting crowd. Paul then smashes his bass on stage. The moment was captured on film and the photo was used as cover art for their album, London Calling.
