Today in Rock History – September 10

Are you ready to learn some stuff? It’s September 10th and here’s what happened Today in Rock History!

Starting off strong with birthdays today as it’s Joe Perry of Aerosmith’s birthday!

Other birthdays include Bill Stevenson of Black Flag, Robin Goodridge of Bush, and Mikey Way of My Chemical Romance

Now that’ve we’ve triggered the emos, let’s move on.

The New York Dolls broke up in 1974 after just two years together. Though their time was short with just two album releases, their influence has lasted much longer.

We got both Roxy & Elsewhere from Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention in 1974 and KISS’s Alive! in 1975!

Nirvana’s single for Smells Like Teen Spirit was also released to the world in 1991, changing the landscape of the rock world forever.

In 1981, Paul Di’Anno leaves Iron Maiden as the band’s lead singer. He would be replaced by Bruce Dickinson and the band would then shoot off into the stratosphere.

And finally in 1999, Standin’ On The Corner Park opens in Winslow, Arizona. The park is inspired by the Eagles song Take It Easy, which mentions the city. It features a statue of a man with a guitar standing on the corner.
