Today in Rock History – August 22

Are you ready to learn some stuff? It’s August 22nd and here’s what happened Today in Rock History!

The day is slow for headlines but it’s a damn good one for releases! Kicking it off with Zeppelin as we got their final studio album, In Through the Out Door in 1979!

Other albums released include Santana’s self-titled debut record in 1969, Rancid’s …And Out Come the Wolves in 1995, Sehnsucht from Rammstein in 1997 and Spend the Night from The Donnas in 2002

It’s also a great day for birthdays, as we begin with Layne Staley of Alice in Chains!

Other birthdays include Gary Lee Conner of Screaming Trees, Jeff Stinco of Simple Plan, and Dean Back of Theory of a Deadman,

As well as Donna Jean Godchaux of the Grateful Dead, Juan Croucier of Ratt and Dokken and Vernon Reid of Living Colour!

We lost Ed King of Lynyrd Skynyrd in 2018.

And finally in 2002, with getting a bit of local flair here, Jimmy Buffett opened his first Cheeseburger In Paradise restaurant ever in Indianapolis, IN.
