Today in Rock History – August 21

Are you ready to learn some stuff? It’s August 21st and here’s what happened Today in Rock History!

Today is super strong when it comes to birthdays! Starting off we have to WAKE UP as its Serj Tankian of System of a Down’s birthday!

Other birthdays include Glenn Hughes of Deep Purple, Tom Coster of Santana, Jake Pitts of Black Veil Brides, Steve Smith of Journey and Joe Strummer of The Clash!

Its also a killer day for releases! Starting in 1990, we got both Ritual de lo Habitual from Jane’s Addiction and Facelift from Alice in Chains!

We also got Be Here Now from Oasis in 1997, The Who’s Who Are You in 1978, Imploding the Mirage from The Killers in 2020 and Disturbed’s Immortalized in 2015!

In 1980, drummer Bill Ward quits Black Sabbath for the first time

And finally in 2015, after finding out that hate-group Westboro Baptist Church staged a protest outside a Foo Fighters concert in Kansas City, the band drives by in a truck and blasts Rick Astley’s Never Gonna Give You Up in front of the protesters

This has been Today in Rock History! Keep on Rocking, keep on Rolling! Check back tomorrow for your next rock history lesson!
