Today in Rock History – August 11

Are you ready to learn some stuff? It’s August 11th and here’s what happened Today in Rock History!

Starting off with releases, we have just one. That one is Jackyl’s debut record from 1992. Cue the Chainsaw!

Moving onto birthdays now we have Andy Bell of Oasis, Richie Ramone of the Ramones

As well as Erik Brann of Iron Butterfly and Bob Mothersbaugh of Devo

We lost Jani Lane of Warrant in 2011

In 1979, Led Zeppelin played what would be their final live show in the UK with all four original members in at England’s Knebworth House. The band would break up the following year after the tragic passing of drummer John Bonham.

In 1999, KISS gets a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, all four original members appearing for the unveiling.

Mike Gordon of Phish is arrested backstage at a 2003 Grateful Dead show after he is found taking a picture of a 9-year-old girl. Gordon was later cleared of the charges, with the girl’s parents saying that is was an “unfortunate misunderstanding.”

And finally in 1976, Keith Moon unsurprisingly trashes his Miami hotel room, but this drunken destruction causes The Who drummer to end up in the hospital after he collapses in the room. He would be released a week later.
