Today in Rock History – August 2

Are you ready to learn some stuff? It’s August 2nd and here’s what happened Today in Rock History!

It’s kind of a slow one today. Starting off with releases, we got The Suburbs by Arcade Fire in 2010, Last Words: The Final Recordings from the Screaming Trees in 2011 and The Who’s Who’s Next in 1971!

Moving onto birthdays now we have: Gord Sinclair of The Tragically Hip, Garth Hudson of The Band, Jim Capaldi of Traffic and Butch Vig of Garbage

We lost Tony Cohen of Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds in 2017

And finally we’re going old school for this one as in 1962, a young Robert Zimmerman decides to make his stage name his real name by legally changing his name. His stage name? Bob Dylan.

You can tell it’s a slow one when we have to talk about Bob Dylan!

This has been Today in Rock History! Keep on Rocking, keep on Rolling! Check back tomorrow for your next rock history lesson!
