There wasn’t much of a Peaceful, Easy Feeling at a 1980 Eagles concert in Long Beach, CA, as members Glenn Frey and Don Felder spent the entire show describing to each other how they were going to beat the other up after the show. Frey told Felder onstage, “Only three more songs until I kick your ass, pal.” The band would go on hiatus (broke up) later that year.
Speaking of the Eagles, in 1992, Don Henley surprised the audience at an Austin nightclub by joining that night’s entertainment, psychobilly singer Mojo Nixon, onstage to perform one of Nixon’s songs. The song: Don Henley Must Die. Mojo, just like the audience, was not expecting Henley to show up.
At a 1971 Who show in New York, a security guard was stabbed to death after an ex-convict was denied entrance to the show.
And finally in 2009, due to MCA’s cancer diagnosis, the Beastie Boys cancel their appearance at the All Points West festival in New Jersey. Jay-Z would open his set with a tribute to Beastie by covering No Sleep Till Brooklyn.
