Today in Rock History – June 23

Are you ready to learn some stuff? It’s June 23rd and here’s what happened Today in Rock History!

Starting it off, it’s Glenn Danzig’s birthday

Other birthdays include Robert Hunter of the Grateful Dead, Bonehead from Oasis and Steve Shelley of Sonic Youth!

And speaking of Oasis, it was on this day in 1995 that drummer Alan White made his live debut as the band’s drummer at that year’s Glastonbury Festival.

Moving onto releases now, we got Emotional Rescue from The Rolling Stones, Dinosaur Jr’s Farm, and Runnin’ Wild from Airbourne!

Oh, and we also got the Armageddon soundtrack. Take it Aerosmith!

While performing on his Welcome To My Nightmare tour in 1975, Alice Cooper fell off the stage and broke six ribs.

And finally in 2016, the original plagiarism trial against Led Zeppelin and their song Stairway to Heaven comes to a close in favor of the surviving members of Zeppelin. Two years later the case was restarted due to a technicality, but the original ruling was upheld in 2020.
