Today in Rock History – June 2

Are you ready to learn some stuff? It’s June 2nd and here’s what happened Today in Rock History!

A much slower day compared to yesterday, we still got some great releases, including Live and Dangerous from Thin Lizzy and Darkness on the Edge of Town from Springsteen on the same day in 1972.

We also got A Kind of Magic from Queen, Adore from the Smashing Pumpkins and But Here We Are from the Foo Fighters

It’s Fabrizio Moretti of The Strokes’ birthday

And finally in 2005, Alex Kapranos, lead singer of Franz Ferdinand, was detained by Russian police at an airport in Moscow after being suspected as a spy. Kapranos, who was traveling under his real name Alex Huntley, was accused of being an MI6 agent there to steal info about Russia’s weaponry. Huntley pointed out that actual former MI6 agent Richard Tomlinson used the surname while working undercover in the 90s. Alex also stated the man they were looking for was 13 years older. Kapranos was freed after the altercation.
