Today in Rock History – May 25

Are you ready to learn some stuff? It’s May 25th and here’s what happened Today in Rock History!

Starting off on a sadder note as we lost Brad Nowell of Sublime in 1996 of a heroin overdose. Nowell died just a week after marrying Troy Dendekker, the mother of his son, Jakob.

It’s Adam Gontier of Three Days Grace’s birthday today

In 2001, Oasis’ Noel Gallagher won his damages case against UK publication The Daily Mirror after the magazine claimed Gallagher lied in court during his divorce proceedings with ex-wife Meg Matthews.

In 2012, during a show in Atlantic City, Garbage’s lead singer Shirley Manson stops the show during their song Stupid Girl to call out a man in the crowd who was abusing a woman. You can see the altercation below:

In 2004, Trey Anastasio of Phish announced in a letter to fans that the band were breaking up. 5 years later, the band reunite.

In 1978, Keith Moon performs with The Who for the final time for their documentary The Kids Are Alright.

And finally in 2011, Judas Priest appears and performs on American Idol with contestant James Durbin. Not only was it a rarity for the program, but this performance marks the debut of guitarist Richie Faulkner as he replaces K. K. Downing, who was dealing with health issues at the time.
