Are you ready to learn some stuff? It’s April 26th and here’s what happened Today in Rock History!
Starting off with releases, punk band X’s Los Angeles released in 1980. The album was produced by ex-Doors keyboardist Ray Manzarek and includes a cover of The Doors’ Soul Kitchen.
We also got The Last Waltz, the concert film/documentary of The Band’s final show. The critically acclaimed film featured performances from various performers of the 60’s and 70’s including Eric Clapton, Van Morrison, Ringo Starr, and Neil Young.
Moving onto birthdays now, we have former frontman of Motley Crue John Corabi, Joe Pasillas of Incubus, Shane Evans of Collective Soul and the late Joey Jordison of Slipknot.
The Van Hagar era of Van Halen gets off to a great start as their album 5150 hits #1 in the US.
In 1995, Playboy offered Courtney Love $1 million to pose nude in their magazine. Love reportedly, and thankfully, turned it down.
And finally in 2016, Death Metal band Abhorrent Decimation had a list of tracks from their album printed onto the back of UK comedian Bernie Clifton’s new CD. The 80-year-old comedian couldn’t find the comedy in the situation and was reportedly furious about the error.
