Today in Rock History – February 25

Are you ready to learn some stuff? It’s February 25th and here’s what happened Today in Rock History!

Kicking it off with releases today we have Billion Dollar Babies by Alice Cooper in 1973, Marcy Playground’s debut effort in 1997, and Pantera’s Vulgar Display of Power in 1992.

One birthday today and that belongs to Brian Baker of Bad Religion.

In 2002, Gorillaz play their first show in the US at the Avalon Ballroom in Boston.

In 2021, A sketchbook used by Radiohead during the recording of The Bends, was sold at auction for over $6,000. The book contained lyrics to unreleased tracks like Too Easy and Idiot Boy, as well as songs that appeared on the album like Street Spirit (Fade Out).

In 1991, Director Cameron Crowe brought the cast and crew of his upcoming film Singles to the Off Ramp in Seattle where Pearl Jam, who appear in the film, were playing. Only two members of the cast stayed for the show, Matt Dillon and Campbell Scott. The rest left early due to the Seattle scene being a little too grungy.

And finally in 1970, this absolute banger debuted on TV
