Every year, like clockwork, fans of classic and hard rock unleash their opinions on social media about rock bands not being chosen to play the Super Bowl’s halftime show. This year is no different. The NFL announced pop star Rihanna as the headliner for Super Bowl LVII’s halftime show. The past several years saw performances from Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J. Blige, Kendrick Lamar, The Weeknd, Shakira, Jennifer Lopez, Maroon 5, Justin Timberlake, Lady Gaga and Coldplay. With that being said, this year seemed perfect for Metallica, as the band saw an incredible resurgence and new fan discovery with ‘Master of Puppets’ airing in an epidsode of Netflix’s Stranger Things.
