Some people get worked up over McRibb not always being around. Others, like me, do hate when my favorite dish gets pulled off of a menu. This, however, is a bit extreme.
A bar and restaurant called Memphis Taproom in Philadelphia recently got an anonymous letter in the mail demanding they bring back the spaghetti and meatball hoagie they dropped from the menu.
The letter didn’t have a return address and it wasn’t signed. And while it doesn’t make any threats about what’ll happen if the sandwich DOESN’T come back . . . it still kind of feels like a ransom note.
The owner says that even though they got rid of the sandwich from the menu, they still have all the ingredients, so if someone really wants a sandwich that features meatballs with spaghetti on top, they can still order it.
He also thinks the letter MIGHT be someone trolling, because the sandwich is made with vegan meatballs and the letter says people need the sandwich right now more than ever because of the, quote, “Chinese virus.”
And, quote, “Anyone who would use that term probably doesn’t have any interest in a vegan sandwich.”
and the actual sandwich….
