LL Cool J appeared on the TV show, ‘Finding Your Roots’ where he finds out his grandmother isn’t his actual biological grandmother. On the show, LL reveals how his mother had suspected her mother might not be her actual ‘mother’ (but still the person who raised her).
These types of stories always fascinate me. I couldn’t imagine going through life thinking the person who I was told gave birth to me may not actually be that person. My heart always feels for anyone going through that sort of situation. However, as shocking as the news may be, it doesn’t EVER mean that person you call mother, grandmother, father, etc doesn’t or won’t continue to play that role.
I think LL put it best upon receiving the news when he said, “I mean it’s sad but you know at the same time, she was my grandma. Biologically she wasn’t but spiritually she will always be”.
