With the holiday season in full swing here in Indy, residents have to be on the lookout for people looking to make an extra buck through a scam. Our friends at Fox 59 are saying a woman was recently a victim of an scam involving “a Best Buy Shopping Spree”.
Barbara Ennis was notified that she had won a $5,000 shopping spree with Best Buy, but couldn’t remember entering a contest at the business. A quick call to the store revealed that not only did she not win, the contest did not exist! For any who may find the letter, it announces you’ve won a shopping spree for the holidays but then asks for a lot of personal information before they can give you your gift. Any time you are being notified for a Social Security number you should ALWAYS use caution. Hopefully since it was brought to light this early no one else had the chance to be affected!
