Fisher’s IKEA will be the first store for Indiana, and one of less than 50 in the United States. If you’re thinking “Oh one for each state,” not even. IKEA thus far only has a presence in 23 states. Hoosiers who wanted their low cost Swedish furniture in the past used to travel to Chicago or Cincinnati. It’s kind of weird because IKEA’s are so sporadic that they’re almost a tourist attraction for people visiting your town.
2. The Food Is Delicious
Two words. Swedish Meatballs. Okay I can’t just leave it at that. When you go to an IKEA you are treated to THE BEST desserts and dishes Sweden has to offer. All you really need to know is that it’s delicious and cheap. Buzzfeed has to be pretentious about everything…
3. Super Cheap And Chic Furniture
It doesn’t take long looking at the catalog before you start finding some really fancy stuff you want…FOR CHEAP. The Swedes have always been known for their cutting edge and love of modern design so now you can join their ranks and sip pinot noir in a black sweater next to your 9 dollar end table.
4. Shopping In IKEA Basically Makes You Better Than Everyone Else And Makes Your Friends Jealous
Seriously share the news with someone close to you that doesn’t live in Indy right now. I guarantee the first thing they’ll talk about is how jealous they are they don’t have them. Now scoff and pretend like it’s really not a big deal but low key you’re pretty excited.
5. Husbands Don’t Necessarily Hate Shopping There
That for me is a huge plus. Considering I’m going to be spending a large portion of my foreseeable future there, It’s only fair that I kind of don’t hate being in there for hours on end.
