In perhaps the most shocking news of 2015, Playboy has announced it will no longer feature nude women! The Boston Globe says the company is headed in a new direction, and while much of the editorial and interview content will not be changing, they don’t believe naked women are really a draw anymore. Chief Executive for the magazine Scott Flanders elaborated more in the statement below…
“That battle has been fought and won,” said Scott Flanders, the company’s chief executive. “You’re now one click away from every sex act imaginable for free. And so it’s just passé at this juncture.”
In saying that, Flanders meant Playboy paved the way for pornography to be as widespread as it is today. For those that have never read a Playboy, the series has a reputation for having high profile contributors and very in depth interviews with some of the biggest names in Hollywood. Back in the day no one was really reading the articles, but as time progressed, many began to acclaim the magazine for it’s art style and hard hitting editorials.
Playboy believes it’s writing will secure it’s lifespan well into the future. Women will still be in provocative poses, but with clothes (mostly) on beginning in March.
